New Pilates & Arc Barrell Class

With the Summer over and the schools back in full swing ,now is the time to start looking after number one.We are starting a Pilates & Arc Barrell class this Wednesday ,taught in groups of 6,every client is guaranteed to get individual attention and excellent value for money. Essentially, these are upholstered arches that help support the back and shoulders and plus open up the neck, hips and thighs, depending on how you use them. They're great rehabilitative tools for those recovering from stress, tension or injury and make a safe surface for deep stretching. We Modify exercises to increase or decrease challenge. The Barrel's gentle curve helps decompress and lengthen the spine.

Pilates/Yoga & Tabata Training

Last weeks Pilates & Tabata training has virtually been a sell out,i still have a few places left if any one is interested.

Not sure what Tabita is ? Watch Walt Disney Worlds Pilates & Yoga Guru Sean Vigue in action,

International Fitness Presenter Rachel Holmes explains the Tabata method : "The Tabata is a high-intensity training regimen that produces remarkable results. A Tabata workout (also called a Tabata sequence) is an interval training cycle of 20 seconds of maximum intensity exercise, followed by 10 seconds of rest, repeated without pause 8 times for a total of four minutes. This powerful training method belongs to its namesake, Dr. Izumi Tabata and a team of researchers from the National Institute of Fitness and Sports in Tokyo, Japan. Their groundbreaking 1996 study, published in the journal Medicine and Science in Sports & Exercise, provided documented evidence concerning the dramatic physiological benefits of high-intensity intermittent training. After just 6 weeks of testing, Dr. Tabata noted a 28% increase in anaerobic capacity in his subjects, along with a 14% increase in their ability to consume oxygen (V02Max). These results were witnessed in already physically fit athletes. The conclusion was that just four minutes of Tabata interval training could do more to boost aerobic and anaerobic capacity than an hour of endurance exercise".

Anatomy In Clay

Last week i attended the most amazing course with American Norah St.John called 'Anatomy In Clay'.This is most definantly one of the best ways to understand the biomechanics of the human body .If you are involved in sport or movement i strongly recommend it.Devised by Jon Zahourek participants are taught to form each muscle, building from the inside out, axial and appendicular anatomy. Students will learn how to build human intrinsic axial, intrinsic brachial, intrinsic pectoral and intrinsic pelvic and extrinsic muscles, and this is just for starters !
